So, this has been doing the rounds on my Facebook feed, but I actually like it because I’ve wanted to stick something like this on here for a while. (It’s also apparently updatable in the future, but that of course depends on the life of the site it came from.)
I feel like I’ve been lots of places! But the world is big, and there’s a lot of grey on that map. I’ve got a scratch-off map on my wall that I won’t even scratch entire countries off because I want it to be more accurate. So there’s even more grey on that (or bronzey-scratch-off colour to be exact).
There’s no chance I can go absolutely everywhere in life, but I was kind of disappointed that I’d not been to at least one country for every year I’ve been alive. I feel like that would have been a good thing to shoot for.
But really, I’m doing pretty well. Part of the UK citizenship application involves telling them where you’ve been and for how long every time you’ve left the UK in the past 5 years, and a fair amount of the travel above has been within that period. 15 countries (not including the US because that’s where I’m FROM) in 5 years to be exact.
The next thing to conquer is obviously Russia and Asia on my massive adventure. If all goes well, I should be able to add over 10 countries in 2015! But after that, I think I definitely need to pay some attention to South America. Perhaps in conjunction with Antarctica if my wallet is up to it in the next decade.
SO MANY PLACES, you guys! And this excludes the possibility of, yaknow, space travel, if that becomes A Possible Thing For Normal Humans in my lifetime. I have every hope.
